Hello, my book friends!!
I’ve got a bookish update for you as we round out our first month of 2025!
January Reading
I finally finished Priory of the Orange Tree after several months of going through it a little at a time. Then I devoured Gideon the Ninth which was absolutely magnificent and funneled every ounce of imposter syndrome in the northern hemisphere directly into my soul. Now I’m 70% through Quicksilver, and I’m happy to say the good is starting to outweigh some of the quirks that bugged me in the first 30% or so. It’s an easy enough read and I’ll definitely be done before the end of January! Next, I WILL read Golden Son, which I’ve been saying for a long time haha. Do you have any books you’re loving this year?
January Writing
This month wasn’t huge when it comes to on-the-page progress, but it was massive as far as brainstorming-fix-the-plot-holes progress. I feel like I’m seeing the story with fresh eyes, and I’m much happier with that perspective in mind.
The Vibes I Bring to the Function
My dear friend Sarah, author of How the Stars Fall, made this for me when the “vibes” trend started, and it’s pretty spot on. Chickens and sunflowers are my favorite (so easy to grow!) Pizza, noodles, wine, no explanation needed there. I had a pair of garden golashes she loathed and had a scorpion on my ceiling last year. Texas things haha. See anything we have in common??
Romantasy Book Rec!
How the Stars Fall, by Sarah C. Davies
How the Stars Fall is a standalone celestial romantasy about a fallen star and the bounty hunter sent to capture her. Tropes: first for everything, grumpy sunshine, dual POV, guaranteed HEA, and a bit of spice <3
Do you have any bookish January updates?
I'm pretty sure that book is on my TBR!
